Annual College Fair Helps Promise Higher Education for Thousands of High School Students and Young Adults
On Saturday, February 24, 2018, OU Credit Union partnered with the Second Ebenezer Church in Detroit by participating at the 21st Annual College Fair that was part of the 2018 College Weekend. More than 1,000 high school students and young adults attended the fair, which featured college information sessions, educational workshops, and scholarship give-a-ways. Representatives from various colleges and universities were at the fair to network with prospective college students.
Attendees were encouraged to bring their resumes, transcripts, and letters of recommendations for on-site admissions, promising many young adults futures in higher education. On-site admissions allow students to interview with college admissions officers in person and find out that day if they are accepted.
OU Credit Union employees spent time at the fair talking to students about opening new accounts and providing financial tips to help them prepare for college. Additionally, employees presented financial education seminars about student budgeting and banking basics.
The Credit Union offers a variety of financial resources geared toward students, including our free Financial 4.0 app and website, and seminars on campus. The list of upcoming seminars can be found here and will be updated throughout the year.
