“We want everyone to understand their finances and be self-sufficient in those processes, and while we can provide that education in-person, you can now learn at your own pace. It is important because managing money can sometimes seem overwhelming. Through Financial 4.0, we try to present personal finances in a fun, easy, and very digestible way.”— Paul, Financial Educator

MSU Federal Credit Union is a proud sponsor and supporter of Kid’s Standard, an organization that enhances reading and writing skills in Oakland County Schools. Kid’s Standard does this through the creation of a magazine that features students as the primary authors of published content.

MSUFCU has sponsored a page in the monthly Kid’s Standard magazine that features financial education games and articles to encourage students to become masters of their finances from a young age. The Credit Union will also be conducting workshops for some of the after school programs that Kid’s Standard facilitates in schools across Oakland County. This will allow students to generate content for the magazine around topics such as needs vs. wants and becoming a smart saver.

“We want kids to learn general knowledge about a little bit of everything,” said Maggie Razdar, Founder and Executive Director of Kid’s Standard Publication Inc. “Parents often have difficulty teaching their kids about finances, so we are excited to bring MSUFCU’s financial knowledge into our publication and after-school programs for students.”

In partnership with Kid’s Standard, we will reach students in the Avondale, Berkley, Birmingham, Bloomfield, Clarkston, Lake Orion, Pontiac, Rochester, Royal Oak, Troy, and West Bloomfield school districts. Over 10,000 copies of the magazine are printed monthly from September to June of each year. For more information about Kid’s Standard, click here.
